On the evening of July 19, 1978, 63-year-old Joe Gerry, a white male, was seated at the bar of the Mir-O-Bar, a downtown Denver drinking establishment. The routine sounds of the evening were suddenly shattered by a loud noise that startled the patrons. Shortly after, those inside the bar discovered that Gerry had been shot.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and Mr. Gerry was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Joe Gerry succumbed to the gunshot wound and was pronounced dead. The incident was classified as a homicide.
The Denver Police Department opened an investigation into the murder. However, despite their efforts, the individual or individuals responsible for Joe Gerry's death have never been identified. To this day, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The motive behind the killing also remains unknown.
