In the quiet expanse of Garfield County, Colorado, the life of a 63-year-old gas station attendant, Homer Abel, was tragically cut short on the cold day of February 27, 1984. A white male, Abel was working at the Asamera Gas Station, situated on Highway 6 just a few miles to the east of Rifle, when the fatal encounter occurred.
