In the early morning hours of Christmas Day, 1985, a dispute in the area of the 800 block of East 26th Avenue in Denver, Colorado, ended in the tragic death of 34-year-old Darrell Gammon. Gammon, a Black male, was shot during the altercation.
Police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene, and Gammon was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on December 25, 1985.
The incident was ruled a homicide.
For decades, the case of Darrell Gammon's murder has remained unsolved. Investigators have been unable to publicly identify any suspect or suspects in connection with his death, and no arrests have ever been made in the case. The Denver Police Department's Cold Case Unit continues to seek information from the public that might lead to a breakthrough in this long-standing investigation.
