In the winter of 1995, a life was cut tragically short on the streets of Denver. Ray Desmond, a 17-year-old Black male, became the victim of a fatal shooting on the evening of December 30th. The incident occurred in the area of East 24th Avenue and Downing Street, where officers from the Denver Police Department were dispatched following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, they discovered two individuals who had been shot.
Both victims were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. While one of the victims survived their injuries, Ray Desmond unfortunately succumbed to the gunshot wounds he sustained and died shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
The case was ruled a homicide, and an investigation into the shooting was launched. However, despite the efforts of law enforcement, the individual or individuals responsible for Ray Desmond's murder have never been identified. The case has since gone cold, leaving a lingering sense of injustice and unanswered questions for his family and the community. The Denver Police Department continues to list the case as unsolved, and no arrests have ever been made in connection with the shooting.
