In the late summer of 1998, the life of 19-year-old Michael Martinez, a Hispanic/Latino male, came to a violent and mysterious end in Arapahoe County, Colorado. His death was discovered in the midst of a frantic manhunt for him and his friend, Alex Pogosyan. The pair were the prime suspects in a brutal shooting spree that had left five people dead in an Aurora neighborhood on September 7, 1998.
The victims of the initial rampage included four of their acquaintances and the stepmother of one of the friends.
The search for the two suspects took a dramatic turn when Martinez's body was found in a field near the Park Meadows Mall. He had been shot multiple times. The discovery of his body added a new layer of complexity to the investigation, shifting his status from a wanted fugitive to a homicide victim.
