On the Fourth of July in 2011, a day meant for celebration, 29-year-old Dominik Teraret Johnson, a Black male, was fatally shot in Denver, Colorado. The evening took a tragic turn during a holiday party in the 3200 block of Dahlia Street. An altercation erupted at the gathering, prompting Johnson to move to a nearby parking lot.
