The evening took a tragic turn during a holiday party in the 3200 block of Dahlia Street. An altercation erupted at the gathering, prompting Johnson to move to a nearby parking lot.
In the parking lot, Johnson was confronted by two individuals. The confrontation escalated, and he was shot. When Denver Police Department officers responded to the call at 9:51 p.m., they found Johnson with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. In another account, Johnson succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
