In the crisp autumn air of a Saturday afternoon in Denver, Colorado, on October 10, 2015, the life of 30-year-old Dareon Raymone Tarbor, a Black male, was tragically cut short. Outside an apartment building located at 11100 East Dartmouth Avenue, the sound of four to six gunshots shattered the peace at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Residents rushed to the scene to find Tarbor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
As he lay on the ground, he repeatedly told those trying to help him that he couldn't breathe. Good Samaritans did what they could to comfort him and render aid while waiting for emergency services to arrive. Tarbor had removed his shirt, revealing the bullet holes in his chest and arm. Despite the valiant efforts of those who came to his aid and the swift response of medical professionals who transported him to a local hospital, Tarbor succumbed to his injuries.
The Denver County coroner's office later confirmed that the cause of death was gunshot wounds and officially ruled the manner of death a homicide. The Denver Police Department opened an investigation into the shooting, believing there may have been more than one person responsible for the crime. However, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in the case. The investigation into Dareon Raymone Tarbor's death remains ongoing, and authorities have asked for anyone with information to come forward. His case is now considered a cold case.
