In the quiet community of Highlands Ranch, near Littleton, Colorado, a tragic discovery was made on the morning of January 30, 2017. Responding to a 911 call from a male resident, deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office entered a home on Crestmore Way to find a grim scene. Inside, they located the bodies of two females who had been shot. One of the victims was a young girl, later identified as 10-year-old Emma Benavides, a student at Northridge Elementary School.
