In the late morning of June 28, 2021, a grim discovery was made in Aurora, Colorado. Seteria Nicole Black, a 30-year-old Black/African American female, was found lying in the grass outside an apartment complex at 695 North Dillon Way. She was bleeding from a gunshot wound and, despite being transported to the hospital, succumbed to her injuries. The Aurora Police Department's Major Crimes Homicide Unit immediately began an investigation into her death, which was ruled a homicide.
