In the fall of 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the afternoon calm in Denver's East Colfax neighborhood, leaving a scene of chaos and violence. When the shooting stopped, one man lay dead and five others were wounded. The deceased was identified as Allen Dawkins, a 31-year-old male who succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, in the 1400 block of Verbena Street.
