Deputy Sheriff Benjamin L. Green, a 38-year-old officer with the Grant County Sheriff's Office, tragically lost his life on February 28, 1981, while performing his duties in Pinos Altos, New Mexico. The incident occurred when Deputy Green and his partner were investigating reports of a prowler armed with a rifle in the area.
