On April 1, 2016, a Vietnamese-American male named Jerry Nguyen, aged 24, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The violence erupted at the House of Pho, a Vietnamese restaurant on San Mateo Boulevard that was owned by his family. Jerry, along with his 31-year-old brother, Anpha Nguyen, were both fatally wounded in the attack.
The assailant was quickly identified by authorities as the victims' uncle, 58-year-old Dung Nguyen.
The attack, which also resulted in injury to the brothers' father, Hung Nguyen, unfolded in the middle of the afternoon. Following the shooting at the restaurant, Dung Nguyen fled the scene. His car was later stopped by police, at which point he died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The motive for the deadly family dispute was not immediately made clear by investigators. The incident left the local community in shock, mourning the loss of the two young brothers who were killed at their place of business. The Albuquerque Police Department handled the investigation into the double homicide and the subsequent death of the suspect.
