Jose D. Federico, affectionately known as 'Yo Yo,' passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2019, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 21. Born on July 1, 1997, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to David and Rebecca Federico, he was raised in Santa Rosa, where he graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 2016. Jose was known for his love of skateboarding, often teaching his cousins the sport, and his passion for making friendship bracelets.
A devoted Raiders fan, he enjoyed watching football games and was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Federico; his uncle, Lawrence Federico; great-grandparents, Arturo and Esmeralda Velasquez; great-grandmother, Felicita Jaramillo; and a special uncle, Jerry Gonzales. Jose is survived by his mother, Rebecca Federico of Santa Rosa; siblings Dwayne Velasquez, Adrian Romero, Carlos Romero, Lawrence Federico, Juanita Federico, and Christina Aguilar, among others; paternal grandmother, Jessie Rivera of California; maternal grandmother, Esther Mata of Santa Rosa; maternal grandparents, Delfinio and Mariana Velasquez of La Loma; special aunt, Mary Ann Aguilar of Santa Rosa; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation services were held on April 15 and 16, 2019, at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa, with the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary on April 16 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial took place on April 17, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico, followed by burial at Sangre De Cristo Cemetery in Upper Anton Chico. Pallbearers included Adrian Romero, Carlos Romero, Luis Ortiz, Julio Vigil, Juaquin Baca, Quirino Villanueva Jr., Troy Lopez, and Ruben Romero, along with all of Jose's cousins.
