On a summer day in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a domestic tragedy unfolded, leaving a mother and her young daughter dead. On Sunday, August 28, 2016, police discovered the bodies of 39-year-old Cam Thi To, an Asian female, and her 11-year-old daughter, Nhi Nguyen. Both had been fatally shot in what was soon identified as a murder-suicide.
Investigators determined that To's husband, 45-year-old Trinh Tran Van, was the person responsible for the deaths of his wife and stepdaughter.
The evidence indicated that Van shot both of them before turning the gun on himself. This violent act occurred shortly after the couple had agreed to separate.
The incident left the local community in shock and mourning the loss of a mother and a child. With the perpetrator deceased, the investigation concluded that Trinh Tran Van was the sole suspect in the killings of Cam Thi To and Nhi Nguyen, and therefore no arrests were made.
