Elijah Mirabal, a 22-year-old resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, lost his life to gun violence on June 29, 2020. The incident occurred during a drug deal that turned into a deadly shootout. Elijah, who had recently returned to Albuquerque after obtaining an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, had started dealing drugs following his layoff from a furniture warehouse job due to the pandemic lockdowns.
