The incident occurred at 780 Shawmut Avenue, where Boston Police responded to a report of a person shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Bocage suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene, and his death was subsequently ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
At the time of his death, Bocage was awaiting the birth of his daughter, Jalissa. His fiancée, Sherelle Lee, was pregnant, and the couple was looking forward to starting their family. His obituary described him as the beloved son of Ethel Duncan and Leon Bocage Sr., and a devoted fiancé. A memorial fund was established in his name for his unborn child.
