On September 20, 2015, Torrence Bearden, age 27, was shot and killed in Chicago's East Garfield Park neighborhood. The incident occurred during a particularly violent period for Chicago, with numerous shootings reported across the city that weekend. Bearden was found on the 700 block of North Harding Avenue with a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency services transported him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
