Derrick Smith, a 28-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on June 21, 2015, in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. According to reports, he was driving a vehicle when he was attacked, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred in a residential area known for its high rates of gun violence. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
