On a cold January evening in 1989, the life of a young woman named Ruby Denise McLemore was tragically cut short. She was a 21-year-old Black female. In the fading light of January 15th, on NE Holman Street in Portland, Oregon, the sound of what a resident believed to be gunshots pierced the air. When the resident looked outside, they discovered McLemore lying in the street.
