In the early morning hours of June 12, 1998, the body of Rosendo Rivas Flores, a 45-year-old Hispanic male, was found in an alley behind an apartment complex on the 4800 block of N. Minnesota Avenue in Portland, Oregon. An investigation determined that he had died from a gunshot wound. Flores was known as a horse breeder and trainer with a rural property in Washington County.
Reports indicated that Flores may have been involved in the sale of illegal drugs.
The evening before his discovery, at approximately 11:07 p.m., witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot near the apartment complex. Shortly after the sound of the gunshot, an unidentified African-American man was seen leaving the area. He was described as being around 6 feet tall with a slender build and short hair.
The case of Rosendo Rivas Flores's death remains an unsolved cold case. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder, and the man seen leaving the area has not been identified. Investigators have encouraged anyone with information to come forward, offering the possibility of anonymity and a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in the felony crime.
