On a tragic day in Forest Grove, Oregon, the life of 28-year-old Kevin Lee Cole, a White male, was cut short. On November 27, 2009, Kevin was shot and killed in a violent encounter that also claimed the lives of his mother and her partner.
The incident unfolded at the home of his mother, 52-year-old Cindy Leigh Mills-England, and her 51-year-old partner, Timothy England. Authorities investigating the case determined it to be a double murder-suicide. The investigation concluded that Timothy England shot and killed both Cindy and her son, Kevin, before turning the gun on himself. As the perpetrator took his own life, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths.
Kevin, who was born on June 4, 1981, in nearby Hillsboro, was a man with deep roots in the Forest Grove community where he was raised. He had built a life for himself, working as a soil tester for a company called Subsurface Technologies. At the time of his untimely death, he was survived by his father, Greg Coleman, and his companion, Amber Clark.
In the wake of this devastating event, the community mourned the loss of three of its members. A joint celebration of life was held for Kevin and his mother on December 5, 2009, at a local church in Cornelius, Oregon, bringing together friends and family to remember the lives that had been so abruptly ended.
