In the early morning hours of February 15, 2014, the life of Heather Mari Star Riccardi, a 38-year-old Caucasian female, was tragically cut short in a Southeast Portland residence. Officers responded to a welfare check at a home on Southeast 112th Avenue after a concerned friend reported receiving a troubling text message from a man who lived there with Riccardi.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement found Riccardi deceased inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound.
The man who had sent the text message, identified as 45-year-old Jeremy Ingram, was also present at the scene, suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Investigators from the Portland Police Bureau determined that Ingram was the sole suspect in Riccardi's death, concluding the tragic event to be a murder-suicide. No other suspects were sought, and no arrests were made as the perpetrator had taken his own life.
