On May 24, 2019, Corey A. Burdick, a 43-year-old resident of Sweet Home, Oregon, was fatally shot in an incident that occurred early in the morning at 541 Surrey Lane, off Ames Creek Drive. This tragic event also involved another individual, Ervin Larry Smith, who was also shot but managed to survive and was hospitalized for his injuries.
