In the quiet area between Beckley and Beaver in Raleigh County, West Virginia, a tragedy unfolded on March 30, 2019, forever altering the lives of a local family. On that Saturday night, authorities were called to a home on Raleigh Ridge Road where they discovered a grim scene. Inside, 53-year-old Lisa Shrewsbury, a Caucasian female, was found deceased in her bed, the victim of a gunshot wound.
Lying next to her was her estranged husband, Darrell Shrewsbury, who had also succumbed to a
single gunshot wound. In his hand, investigators found a. 22 caliber handgun, leading them to believe the incident was a murder-suicide. The couple, who were known to be separated at the time, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The discovery sent shockwaves through the community as friends and family were left to grapple with the sudden and violent loss. In the days that followed, the West Virginia State Police continued their investigation into the circumstances that led to the apparent murder-suicide.
