In the small community of Glen Rogers, West Virginia, the life of 29-year-old Shelley Lynn Gillespie, a Caucasian female, was tragically cut short on July 17, 2019. Remembered for her warm smile, Shelley was a mother to a young son and had previously resided in Harrisonburg, Virginia, before moving to the quiet roads of Wyoming County. Her life, however, would end in an act of domestic violence.
On that Wednesday, deputies from the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department responded to a distressing call about a possible shooting. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered Shelley with a single gunshot wound to her head. Emergency medical services were dispatched, and she was quickly transported for medical attention.
Despite their efforts, Shelley succumbed to her injuries while en route to the hospital.
The investigation into her death swiftly led authorities to a suspect. Gavin Lee Mongold, also of Glen Rogers, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. The investigation concluded that Mongold was Shelley's boyfriend. Following his arrest, he was charged with first-degree murder, leaving a community to mourn the violent and untimely loss of a young mother.
