On the evening of October 13, 2022, in the small community of Branchland, West Virginia, a violent encounter cut short the life of 34-year-old Richard Vance, a White/Caucasian male. The incident unfolded on Sand Gap Road at approximately 6:30 p.m.. Reports from the West Virginia State Police indicate that Vance was struck by a single shot fired from a long gun.
