On a Thursday afternoon just before the Christmas holiday, the quiet of a home on Woodmire Drive in Milton, West Virginia, was shattered by violence. Inside, Mark Kenneth Beilstein, a 52-year-old White male, was fatally shot on December 22, 2022. A loving husband and father of five, Beilstein was a respected figure in his community, serving as the Vice President of Revenue Cycle at Kings Daughters Medical Center and actively involved in his church and his children's school activities.
When Milton police arrived at the residence, they found Mark Beilstein critically injured. Also present at the home was his son, 23-year-old Jacob Beilstein. The younger Beilstein was taken into custody by authorities at the scene. He was subsequently arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of his father, along with a charge of wanton endangerment.
Following his arrest on the day of the shooting, Jacob Beilstein was held in the Western Regional Jail without bail. In early January 2023, he appeared for a preliminary hearing where a magistrate determined there was sufficient evidence to forward the case to a Cabell County grand jury for their consideration. The community was left to grapple with the tragedy that had befallen a family described as deeply connected to their faith and community.
