Phoenix police said a 42-year-old man was shot in his west Phoenix apartment Sunday morning and later died from his injuries.

James Barratt was shot by an unknown person during an altercation before 10:30 a.m. inside his apartment near 21st Avenue and Heatherbrae Road, a spokesman for the department said.
