On August 15, 2020, 28-year-old Dayshon "Superfreak" Smith, a promising amateur boxer from New Haven, Connecticut, was fatally shot during a gathering on Rosette Street in the city's Hill neighborhood. The incident, which occurred around 11:51 p.m., also resulted in five other individuals sustaining gunshot wounds. The victims included two women, aged 27 and 28, and three men, aged between 31 and 37, all of whom were hospitalized in stable condition.
