On a tragic day in Alma, Arkansas, a domestic dispute spiraled into a horrific act of violence that claimed the life of 31-year-old Michael David Williams and two young children. The incident, which occurred on December 3, 2013, unfolded at a residence on Old Rudy Road, just north of the city limits. Williams, a Black/African American male, had gone to the home of Tim and Regina Adams to pick up his children.
An argument reportedly broke out between Ashley Adams, Williams' wife, and her
father, Tim Adams, concerning a scheduled court appearance and her plans for the children. In a sudden escalation of the conflict, Tim Adams retrieved a shotgun from his truck and fired at Williams, who was waiting in the passenger side of a car.
The violence did not end there. After shooting Williams, Tim Adams turned the weapon on his own grandchildren. He shot and killed Williams' 4-month-old son, Chaysten Williams, as the infant was being carried back into the house. He also fatally shot his 4-year-old granddaughter, Kierra Adams, as she tried to flee the home.
When a Crawford County deputy arrived at the scene, Tim Adams was found outside the residence on a cellphone. Despite the deputy's pleas for him to drop the weapon, Adams took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. As a result of the murder-suicide, Tim Adams was identified as the sole suspect, and no arrests were made.
