On July 8, 2015, 68-year-old Fred William Pohnka Jr. was found deceased in his home on South Jackson Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. A dedicated security guard for Regions Bank and a retired Army National Guard veteran, Pohnka's absence from work prompted concerned colleagues to check on him. Upon arrival, they discovered his body on the kitchen floor, with the home showing signs of a violent struggle and ransacking.
