In the late evening of July 28, 2015, the body of 22-year-old Fredrick Willis was discovered on a street in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. He had been shot multiple times. Investigators believe the shooting occurred at a different location and that his body was left on the street sometime after the fact. It is thought that his body had been there for several hours before being found. The Helena-West Helena Police Department quickly began a homicide investigation, interviewing several people who may have been with Willis before he was killed.

As the investigation into his death continued, details from Willis's past emerged. In 2013, he was involved in an incident where the owner of a local Christian radio station, Elijah Mondy, was shot during an attempted robbery. Willis, along with three other individuals, was charged in connection with that crime. In that incident, Willis had reportedly feigned an injury on the side of the road to lure Mondy and his wife into stopping their vehicle to offer help.

Despite the efforts of the Helena-West Helena Police Department and the interviews they conducted, no arrests have been made in the murder of Fredrick Willis. The case has grown cold over the years, and law enforcement continues to seek information from the public that might lead to a break in the investigation. His death remains an unsolved homicide, leaving his family and community without answers or justice for his killing.
