On July 9, 2016, Dr. Llewellyn Don Brown, aged 70, was found deceased at his family property in Horatio, Arkansas. Born on July 15, 1945, in Horatio, he was a Vietnam War veteran who had served with the U.S. Army. At the time of his death, he resided in Cave Creek, Arizona.

The tragic incident also claimed the life of Dr. Brown's sister, Debra Johnson, aged 66. Their bodies were discovered in a pasture after a fire was reported around 3 p.m. on July 9.
