In the early morning hours of July 18, 2016, the life of 22-year-old Mikhal Dalove Bailey, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Police responded to a call shortly after midnight about a motorcycle left in the middle of the 2400 block of Elm Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene: Bailey was found lying in a nearby ditch, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The motorcycle found at the scene, a 2006 Yamaha, was later
determined to have been reported stolen in February of that year. A witness in the vicinity reported hearing a barrage of about 20 gunshots, but did not see the events that transpired. Bailey's death marked the 18th homicide in the city of Little Rock for 2016.
Despite a thorough investigation into the shooting, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Mikhal Dalove Bailey. The case remains an unsolved homicide, leaving a lingering sense of unanswered questions for his surviving parents, Lucinda and Frederick Bailey, and the community.
