In the late summer of 2016, the community of Paris, Arkansas, was shaken by the violent and untimely death of one of its own. On August 17, 29-year-old Matthew Jay Self-Phillips, a White/Caucasian male, was discovered deceased in the front yard of a residence on North Six and a Half Mile Road. Law enforcement responded to a report of a shooting and found Self-Phillips with a fatal gunshot wound.
