In the small, close-knit town of Strong, Arkansas, the sense of community was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 41-year-old Curry Bolton. On a cold January night in 2017, the sanctity of his own home was violated when two intruders forced their way through his front door. The male, identified as Black/African American, was at his residence at the intersection of Oak and First Street when the assailants entered with demands for money.
A confrontation ensued, and in a moment of brutal finality, Curry Bolton was shot in the chest.
Despite immediate efforts to save him, he succumbed to the fatal wound at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. The violent intrusion left the residents of Strong reeling with fear and a profound sense of unease. The thought that the perpetrators could be people they knew, walking among them, created a palpable tension within the community. The Union County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the homicide, a grim task in a town unaccustomed to such violent crime.
In the course of their investigation, authorities identified two persons of interest who they believed might have information or involvement in the death of Curry Bolton. However, despite this initial lead, no arrests have been made in the case, and the individuals responsible for his death remain at large. The case has since grown cold, a painful and unresolved chapter in the town's history. Years after the incident, Curry Bolton's family continues to hold out hope for justice, a closure that has so far remained elusive.
