On a late afternoon in Little Rock, Arkansas, a dispute inside a Little Caesars pizza restaurant escalated into a fatal encounter that ended the life of 33-year-old Marcus Fleming. The Black / African American man was inside the eatery located at 3412 S. University Avenue on August 29, 2019, when an argument erupted between him and an employee.
The verbal confrontation with 26-year-old Domeque Latrice Jones, who was working at the restaurant, took a tragic turn when Jones produced a
handgun. He fired multiple shots at Fleming, striking him several times. Emergency services were called to the scene around 4:45 p.m. and transported Fleming to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Jones fled the location before police arrived. However, investigators were quickly able to identify him as the suspect through witness statements and surveillance footage from the restaurant's security cameras. The following day, on Friday afternoon, Domeque Latrice Jones was apprehended by the Little Rock Police Department. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Marcus Fleming.
