A dispute at a South Carolina racetrack ended in the tragic death of 40-year-old Reggie Lee Dantzler, a male resident of Neeses. The incident, which occurred on the evening of Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the S.C. Motorplex on Dragstrip Road, also left two other individuals wounded.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office reported that an argument preceded the gunfire.
In the wake of the shooting, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell issued a public appeal for any photos, videos, or information that could help identify the person responsible for what he termed a 'senseless murder.'
Following an investigation, authorities arrested 32-year-old Antonio Lamont Ferguson of Allendale County. Ferguson has been charged with one count of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The two other victims in the shooting included a 15-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man.
Ferguson appeared for a bond hearing where a magistrate judge, following protocol for a murder charge, did not set a bond. The decision on his bond will be made by a circuit court judge at a later date. During the hearing, a no-contact order was requested on behalf of Dantzler's mother. Ferguson's next court appearance is scheduled for February 19, 2025. A cousin of Dantzler, Ivan Larry Moore, expressed forgiveness towards the alleged shooter but also emphasized the need for justice to be served.
