On December 7, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Akron police responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Carpenter Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Mashoure "Pig Tank" Snyder with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.

Preliminary investigations suggest that an altercation occurred inside an apartment involving Snyder and two other individuals. The confrontation escalated and moved outside, where Snyder and another man engaged in a physical fight. During the struggle, the other man reportedly drew a handgun and shot Snyder multiple times.

A 49-year-old man present at the scene was detained by police for questioning. After being interviewed, he was released without charges. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Akron detectives or provide anonymous tips through Summit County Crimestoppers.

Snyder's death has deeply affected his family and the Akron community. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Wade; his grandmother, Mattie B. Johnson; his children, Nyalle Taylor, Nylah Snyder, and Carter Norwood; as well as several siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. A visitation and celebration of life were held on December 19, 2024, at Rhoden Memorial in Akron, followed by a burial at Mt. Peace Cemetery.

In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign was organized by Snyder's family to assist with funeral expenses. The campaign highlights the family's financial struggles and their need for support to provide Snyder with a proper burial. Community members have been encouraged to contribute and share memories of Snyder, reflecting the impact of his loss on those who knew him.
