In the Milneburg neighborhood of New Orleans, a burst of gunfire on the evening of December 15, 2024, tragically cut short the life of 16-year-old Camren Dent. The shooting, which occurred around 7 p.m. in the 6100 block of Franklin Avenue, was a chaotic scene that left a total of four people struck by bullets. When the violence ceased, Dent was found with fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another young man, 22-year-old Nathan Coleman Jr., was also critically injured in the assault and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. Two other individuals were wounded in the incident but survived.
The New Orleans Police Department quickly launched an investigation into the quadruple shooting, piecing together the events of that violent evening. In the days that followed, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office officially identified Camren Dent and Nathan Coleman Jr. as the two deceased victims. The police have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward as the search for justice for Camren Dent and Nathan Coleman Jr. continues.
