On December 19, 2024, 44-year-old Aaron Michael Kyle was fatally shot during a home invasion on South Scarlet Oak Terrace near Homosassa, Florida. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) responded to reports of a shooting involving multiple individuals. Upon arrival, deputies found Kyle critically injured; he was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Following an intensive investigation, the CCSO arrested two suspects in connection with the incident. Shawn Michael Hutton and Andrew Douglas Gore, both 34 years old, were apprehended and charged with murder while engaged in a home invasion robbery, home invasion with a firearm, and kidnapping with intent to commit or commission a felony. Sheriff Mike Prendergast acknowledged the complexities of the case, noting that detectives worked tirelessly to ensure a thorough investigation, which led to the immediate arrests of the suspects involved.
Both Hutton and Gore are currently in custody, facing serious charges related to the fatal home invasion. In addition to the recent incident, records indicate that Aaron Michael Kyle had previous encounters with law enforcement. He was arrested on September 13, 2021, for possession of a controlled substance, and on February 24, 2024, for a misdemeanor violation of probation. These prior arrests are part of his criminal history in Citrus County.
