Jackson sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:51 p.m.
The 27-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the face and was also taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
Jackson, a resident of south suburban Robbins, Illinois, was among 18 individuals shot in Chicago over that weekend. His death was part of a broader pattern of gun violence affecting the city at the time. According to Chicago Police, Donerson opened fire on Jackson and the other man in the backyard near his home. He was taken into custody and held without bond following a court hearing on March 21, 2017. His next court date was scheduled for April 7, 2017.
