On the night of March 18, 2017, 23-year-old African American male Ishmael Jackson was fatally shot in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. At approximately 10:44 p.m., Jackson and a 27-year-old man were standing in the backyard of a residence in the 5600 block of South Elizabeth Street when another male opened fire.
