On April 6, 2023, 68-year-old Arnoldo Cristan was found dead from a gunshot wound in Gainesville, Texas. His death was recorded by the National Gun Violence Memorial, highlighting the tragic loss to the community.

Prior to his death, Cristan had a history of legal issues. In 2011, he was arrested in Denton County, Texas, on charges of possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram) and was released to another agency in 2012.
