On May 25, 2023, Tina Kelley, a 45-year-old resident of Gilchrist, Texas, was found deceased in her home on Head Hunter Drive. Responding to a welfare check, Galveston County Sheriff's deputies discovered her body with multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigations revealed that Kelley's boyfriend, Raymond Bernard Borden Jr., had been arrested on May 21, 2023—the same day authorities believe the murder occurred—for driving while intoxicated and evading arrest in Kelley's pickup truck. During his arrest, deputies found the handgun used in Kelley's murder inside the vehicle.
In November 2024, a Galveston County jury convicted Borden of murder and sentenced him to 99 years in prison. Additionally, he received a 10-year sentence for driving while intoxicated during the 2023 Jeep Weekend, just hours after the murder.
Tina Kelley was remembered by family and friends as a vivacious and caring individual. Her daughter, Tayler Point, described her as "the life of the party" and someone who "helped raise kids that didn't have parents." Kelley had been working at Jose's Cantina in Crystal Beach, where colleagues mourned her loss deeply.
