On October 1, 2023, 48-year-old Karly Navarrete Díaz was tragically killed in Houston, Texas. She had recently separated from her husband of approximately 30 years, 55-year-old Ever Navarrete, and was in the process of divorcing him. To ensure her safety, Karly had moved to a new residence, the location of which was kept secret from Ever. Despite these precautions, Ever allegedly tracked her down, possibly by placing a tracking device on her vehicle.
