On February 25, 2024, at approximately 6 p.m., Houston police responded to a call at a residence located at 3903 Erby Street in southeast Houston. Upon arrival, officers discovered 27-year-old Jose Mares deceased in a bedroom closet, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses at the scene indicated that Jose's younger brother, 18-year-old Christopher Mares, was responsible for the shooting and had fled immediately afterward. Subsequently, Christopher turned himself in to autho ...
