On April 15, 2024, 27-year-old Ricardo Vega was found deceased in his vehicle at a stop sign on West Canino Road near the North Freeway in north Houston. Vega, a father of two young children, had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Prior to the shooting, Vega had called 911, reporting that he was following a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident and that the individual was flashing a weapon at him.
