On July 28, 2024, 30-year-old Dipak Oli was fatally shot during an armed robbery at the Gator Stop #3 gas station near Elm Mott, Texas, where he was employed as a cashier. Surveillance footage revealed that two armed individuals entered the store early that morning. When Oli attempted to flee toward the back exit, one assailant, wearing a blue mask, fired his weapon, resulting in Oli's death.
The McLennan County Sheriff's Office launched an intensive investigation, collaborating with multiple law enforcement agencies. A significant breakthrough occurred on August 22, 2024, when three residential search warrants were executed. This operation led to the arrests of 22-year-old Christopher Matthew Beltran and 25-year-old Micha Harris, both charged with capital murder in connection with Oli's death. Beltran was identified as a confirmed member of the Crips criminal street gang.
Further investigation linked Beltran and Harris to an earlier robbery on the same day at a convenience store in Hewitt, Texas. In that incident, the store clerk was assaulted after complying with the robbers' demands for money. Both suspects faced additional charges of aggravated robbery for this crime. A third individual, 21-year-old Matthew Porifor Beltran, was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence related to the case.
In November 2024, a McLennan County Grand Jury indicted Christopher Beltran and Micha Harris on capital murder charges for the fatal shooting of Dipak Oli. The indictments marked a pivotal step toward seeking justice for Oli's family, including his wife and young child, who remained in Nepal.
