On September 1, 2024, the body of 20-year-old Kameron Montre Anderson from Bedford, Texas, was discovered in the trunk of his burning vehicle in Turnertown, Rusk County. An autopsy revealed that Anderson had suffered two fatal gunshot wounds.
Investigations revealed that Anderson had been in constant communication with 18-year-old Nathaniel Hall from Troup, Texas, on the night of August 31, 2024. Cell phone records indicated that Anderson traveled from Bedford to Hall's residence in Smith County, arriving around 2:30 a.m. on September 1. Subsequently, Anderson's phone moved to the Turnertown area, with its last activity recorded around 4:30 a.m., shortly before reports of the burning vehicle emerged.
Further investigation led to the arrest of three individuals: Nathaniel Hall, 21-year-old Jasmine Williams from Tyler, Texas, and a 16-year-old juvenile. All three have been charged with capital murder in connection with Anderson's death. Evidence suggests that the trio lured Anderson to Hall's residence under the pretense of a social meeting, with the intent to rob him—a plan referred to as a "rip." During the encounter, Anderson was shot, placed in the trunk of his own car, and the vehicle was driven to Turnertown, where it was set ablaze.
Hall was apprehended during a traffic stop by Tyler police on September 4, 2024, during which he was found in possession of a stolen 9mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle. Williams surrendered to authorities on September 8, 2024, and the juvenile suspect was detained shortly thereafter. All three suspects are currently held in custody, facing charges of capital murder, with bonds set at $2 million for Hall and $1 million for Williams.
The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Smith County Sheriff's Office, Rusk County Sheriff's Office, Texas Rangers, Troup Police Department, and Tyler Police Department. Authorities utilized cell phone records and witness testimonies to piece together the events leading to Anderson's death. The case remains under investigation as officials continue to gather evidence and prepare for prosecution.
