On February 25, 2023, Jonathan Duke, a 25-year-old resident of Santa Fe Springs, California, was fatally shot near a homeless encampment on the Coyote Creek Bike Trail. The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. on the bike path in the 13600 block of Rosecrans Avenue. Emergency responders transported Duke to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:31 p.m.
